Consignment Policies and Updates
SPRING consignments begin January 9
What does Spring include?
Athleisure (hoodies, fleeces, sweatpants, etc.), sneakers and shoes (no boots or sandals), jeans and pants (no skinnies), designer purses, tees and shirts, dresses, lightweight sweaters and jackets, sterling and gold jewelry

*Current styles - less than two seasons old
*Free of defects - no pulls, holes, rips, missing buttons, broken zippers
*Shoes in like-new condition (no chips in heels, scuffs, etc.)
Consignment Contract
1. Appointments & Item Drop-Off
- If you would like any unaccepted items returned, have questions about a specific item, or are a new consignor, an appointment is required to bring in your items. Appointments can be made on our website.
- If you are an existing consignor who does not want unaccepted items back, you may drop off items any day of the week without an appointment.
2. Pricing & Selling Process
- Pennywise sets all pricing to ensure consistency and competitiveness with other retailers.
- Once your item sells, you will receive 50% of the selling price.
- Items are subject to markdowns the longer they remain on the sales floor. Items are subject to storewide sales outside of these markdown periods.
3. Unsold Items & Donations
- Items that do not sell within 12 weeks are donated to charity.
- Due to the high volume of consignors, we do not return unsold items or notify consignors when items are donated.
- Exception: Sterling and gold jewelry, as well Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Burberry, Christian Dior, Balenciaga, and Chanel, will remain in the store until sold. Designer items are not exempt from the discount schedule.
4. Account Management & Payments
- Consignors are responsible for tracking their accounts. Pennywise does not send notifications when items sell.
- Account balances can be checked seven days a week by calling or visiting the store.
- Payments are issued via check Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) without notice. A stop payment request on any check will incur a fee of $25.
- We do not mail checks to in-state addresses. If a check is requested out of state and is lost in the mail, a $25 stop payment fee will be charged to the account to reissue and mail a replacement.
- Store credit can be used seven days a week.
- If a consignor can only pick up a check on a weekend they must call on the Friday prior before to request one be left for them.
5. Item Preparation & Condition
- Items must be clean, free of defects, and free from scents such as mothballs, cigarette odors, or essential oils. Items are inspected at intake; however, any item later found to have damage, excessive wear, or condition issues may be donated without prior notification to the consignor.
- Items should be folded in bags or bins rather than brought in on hangers.
- Shoes must be brought in without boxes.
- Imitation or counterfeit designer clothing or accessories are strictly prohibited and will not be accepted.
6. Designer Items
- Designer items follow the same discount schedule as all other merchandise.
- The following designer brands will remain in the store until sold and will not be donated: Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Burberry, Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Chloé, and Chanel.
- Consignors may take back these designer items once they have been on the sales floor for at least eight (8) weeks. If a designer item is taken back before the eight-week period, a $20 fee per item will be charged to help cover authentication costs.
- Pennywise does not pull items from the sales floor, hold items aside for consignors or notify consignors about the timeline of their items.
- All designer items are authenticated using Entrupy and Authenticate First. Authentication fees are covered by Pennywise unless the consignor retrieves the item before the eight-week minimum, in which case the $20 per-item fee applies.
- Any item found to be counterfeit must be retrieved by the consignor within seven (7) days of notification. Items not retrieved within this timeframe will be donated.
7. Liability Disclaimer
- Pennywise will handle all consigned items with care; however, the consignor assumes all risk of loss, theft, or damage.
